New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community
I am a lifelong resident of Washington graduating from Washington High School in 1981. I am the daughter of Margaret Colbert and the late Harold Colbert and I have one son, Matthew Mattingly. I am a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Public Administration. I am the Executive Director of Daviess County Community Corrections, a position I have held since 1985. I am also a member of the Board of Public Works and Safety for the City of Washington having been appointed by our current Mayor Joe Wellman in 2016.
I am a member of the Indiana Association of Community Correction Act Counties, where I received the award of Director of the Year in 2015. I am member of the Washington Rotary Club, project team member for the Hometown Collaborative Initiative Pathway Project, planning team member for the Daviess County Regional Opportunities Initiative Grant and a graduate of Leadership Daviess County. I also attend Bethany Christian Church.
I have chosen to seek the position of Mayor because I am passionate about the future of our City. I have been preparing to run for this office for some time now, learning all I can about economic development and the city’s budgetary processes. I am excited about the opportunity to work with our City Council, Daviess County Officials and all stakeholders to bring growth and opportunity to our City.
I believe that my thirty plus years of working with the public in my current position and my terms of service on the Board of Public Works and Safety have given me the knowledge and experiences that will help me lead the City as Mayor. With the opening of I-69, our community is on the verge of the largest economic growth we have seen in decades. I am excited to see where this growth will take us, especially for our children and grandchildren. I am ready to work to shape the future of Washington.
