What can we do

1/5
With over thirty years of government experience, I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate the complicated governmental agencies, and get things done.  We must take steps to ensure reasonable growth in order to sustain our quality of life, schools, and economic viability for generations to come.
As Mayor of Washington, we will focus on the following issues:
LIST OF ISSUES
Interstate 69

Governor Holcomb, as a part of his Next Level agenda, has accelerated the completion of the final section of I-69 to 2024.  It is important that we continue to work with Daviess County and Economic Development officials and other stakeholders and capitalize on this early completion.  For Washington, it is important to continue to foster development at our new front door and create a sense of place when visitors exit the interstate.

Quality of Place

We must work together to create a community where people can live, work and play.  We must look at offering amenities for residents that will attract both talent and visitors to Washington.  It is essential to entice our young people to remain in our community and for those that have left for education or employment to return to the area.

Employment/Business Opportunities

Washington needs to be recognized as a city that is "open for business".  We must continue our relationships with JETRO and RADIUS to attract new business opportunities to the area.  We must also work with current businesses in our community by encouraging continued success and growth.  And we need to improve governmental processes to support economic development.

Housing

We must address our housing needs and concerns in our community.  We must work with rental property owners to ensure that they are complying with building codes and work with them to create a "council" of owners to ensure properties meet certain standards.  We must also work with developers to address our housing shortage issues.
